Cannabis Dosing for Beginners

Having worked in plenty of dispensaries. This is the question or the concern that comes up the most. How much do should I take since  I’m new at this? or What is the right dosage for me to take if I have to manage pain? There are a ton of questions that come across to a lot of people because everyone is different. Cannabis doesn’t hit everyone in the same way. It all depends on your height, weight, age, and even down to how fast your metabolism works. That applies to smoking regular weed, cartridges, and of course edibles. So in this article, we will make it easy to understand a how-to guide for beginners.

Cannabis Buds

This is a tricky and unpredictable guess due to the simple fact of it being at its purest form unless you are weighing it out per bowl and you know the percentages of your cannabis strain. This takes time to understand if you are a novice to this whole experience. What is suggested and makes the most sense is to take a puff and wait about an hour and see what you feel that is how you roughly gauge what you’re going to feel. Don’t forget each strain is not going to give you the same high.

Edibles

If you are purchasing edibles from a legal dispensary, this market is a lot more regulated than the brownies your cousin makes from down the street. The reason why is homemade cannabis butter and distillates aren’t tested. During the baking or cooking process can shift in the batches. Making one bite too potent which could be eating most of the THC that is supposed to be spread over the whole pan. Which is why people have bad edible experiences and won’t touch weed edibles period. So if you want to try edibles go to a regulated dispensary, and they will give you the right basics to start with. We suggest for someone who never smokes can take about 5mg and wait an hour then you can get an idea of what you’re going to take next. 10mg is suggested for someone who already smokes because each edible is not created equal some brands are a lot better than others.

Cartridges and Concentrates

When purchasing cartridges and concentrates, these aren’t usually suggested for beginners, but as mentioned before not every brand is created equal. Some carts will have a ton of terpenes which are the markers for different highs and flavors. If you are a beginner we highly suggest something with a low THC percentage and a ton of terpenes. You will have a more blissful high than out of control head-spinning “I smoked too much” THC high. As always, start with a puff and then see what happens over an hour’s time period, then go from there. Concentrates are not for people who have never smoked because this will bring your tolerance through the roof and create a very expensive habit. Once your more experienced, they are the purest form of cannabis. It’s like eating a bad brownie where you get the whole batch in one square type of feeling that will put you to sleep. You want to use this for parties or festivals to add a little extra fun to your time.
